It’s not often that I get to go out and mingle with readers and authors in person. Sure, I spend plenty of time doing so on Facebook, but there’s something entirely different and far more awesome about getting to do it in person. Which is precisely why I love events like Indie Bookfest.
This past weekend I dragged my ass out of bed at 6am on Friday morning (those of you who know me understand that I need to be extremely motivated and pumped full of coffee to even contemplate doing such a thing). Anyway, one hour long drive I barely remember later and I was strolling into the Buena Vista Palace just in time to catch the opening speech by our keynote speaker author Tiffany King. I was barely awake, but even in the absence of coffee I was feeling warm and fuzzy all over listening to her encouraging words and inspirational journey.
Once panels began I made a mad dash to find some liquid pleasure in a cup along with a tasty chocolate croissant (because a girl cannot live on caffeine and feel-good vibes alone) and then ran back to officially begin my #IBF2014 experience.
And so begins my weekend in pictures….
It’s official. I have my name tag.
That’s me in the corner, on the ‘Got Grit’ panel speaking alongside Kristie Cook, Amy Miles and Carol Kunz (also known as Amanda Jason)….no pressure there 😉
Yes…I packed my own coffee and mug. That’s totally normal.
The view from my balcony!
Getting ready for the Signing Event!!
So was everyone else 😉
My name tag got a little extra bling thanks to Danielle’s Dazzling Designs!
People are starting to trickle in…
Meanwhile, Toni Sinns and I are already having a BLAST!
In case you hadn’t noticed…I really, really love my banner. Kinda makes me feel like a rock star…
More bling from Danielle!!
And it’s party time!! 50’s style with a milk shake station and swing dancing!!
Interesting side note….the dance instructor was a guy I went on a date with once in high school. AWKWARD. Thankfully, he didn’t seem to recognize me.
Who doesn’t like dinner with a view?
So yeah…aside from a handful of crazy girls winding up in the parking lot come three a.m….that about sums up my awesome weekend 🙂
Can’t wait for next year!!
